“Copper roughness and how roughness related loss is calculated in their Si9000e Field Solver”

Presenter: Geoffrey Hazelett

Abstract:

Material selection by designers and fabricators is necessary to achieve the end result, a working board. However, copper roughness is often overlooked when comparing different materials to achieve certain loss budgets. An overview of some of the available methods for calculating losses due to Copper Roughness and a demonstration using some of these methods will be covered. Additional consideration will be given to addressing the purpose and quality of the information that is being shared between various industry groups, because at the end of the day, modeling predictions are only as good as the numbers put in it!
